Christmas Work Party at Staunton Meend – 28th December

Sunday 28th December, 10am – 1pm (or join in for as little or much as you can)

Where: Staunton Meend. Meet outside Buckstone Lodge / The Cabin.  What3words: dives.decorator.menswear

Come and work off the Christmas excess, get some fresh air and meet the locals!

Help is needed to clear scrub on Staunton Meend. It’s easy work, you won’t be worked too hard! And it’s a great way to find out more about your local environment, meet new people and engage with nature in a very positive way. You will be given tools and full instructions, as well as information about why this work is valuable. And as it’s Christmas, there will be mince pies and hot drinks. Everyone over 8  years welcome regardless of age or ability but if you are lucky enough to be aged between 8 and 16 please bring an adult along.

What is so special about Staunton Meend?

Small areas of common land are one of the Special Qualities of the Wye Valley National Landscape and we have been supporting heathland restoration work on Staunton Meend for many years, including our volunteers repairing drystone boundary walls. Recently Farming in Protective Landscape grants have helped prepare a site management plan for the area, connected water throughs for grazing, trained cattle checkers and purchases tools for volunteers.
