The Wye Valley National Landscape Partnership

The Wye Valley National Landscape Partnership is the generic term for the partner organisations and individuals involved and convened through the Joint Advisory Committee and National Landscapes Team.

This includes the local residents and volunteers, landowners and businesses, community groups, local authorities and other public, private and voluntary sector organisations that collaborate to conserve and enhance the special qualities of the landscape.

With the administrative complexity of the Wye Valley National Landscape, the Partnership and the Joint Advisory Committee is recognised as one of the very few organisations locally with a true cross-border remit. Consequently, the Wye Valley National Landscape Partnership has a considerable amount of experience and expertise in cross-border working and project development and delivery at both local and landscape scales.

The Wye Valley National Landscape Team and the Joint Advisory Committee host a late summer study tour for the Wye Valley National Landscape Partnership that visits and investigates projects and issues in the AONB.

Other partnerships that relate to the Wye Vallley National Landscape Partnership include:

An independent study commissioned by The National Landscapes Association The Value of AONB Partnerships identified that:

National Landscape Partnerships, with dedicated teams

  • make things happen, translating vision and national policy into local action,
  • work with local communities and value their skills, knowledge and energy,
  • provide value for money by securing additional funding, resources and project partners,
  • develop innovative approaches to achieve beneficial results through collaboration,
  • promote a sustainable rural economy that conserves and enhances the natural environment for the benefit of society.
